description: I just wandering through Ikea and saw the wall EXPEDIT shelf and loved for a bedside table. I did not like the idea of hanging ropes on the sides, or it was less than 16 "deep. I just wanted a little more, and I wanted a way to hide cords for my lamps, clock, etc. I did not like the spacing wall brackets would not let me ride in a wall stud, so I would be very limited in the weight it would support. But with just a small change ... .
I created a back for her, using 18 pieces "x24" 1/2 "oak veneer plywood thickness. I framed this against-plated with 3/4 "strips of oak, to create a box. I lined unity and drilled holes for mounting and EXPEDIT (again using the blue band) where the marked top of the wall shelf is. I used the Forstner bit to drill two holes for the power cords through. to mount on the wall, I used the best, the easiest (and cheapest) Support wall I know. - The french stopper
I use another 3/4 "x 3" my piece of plywood scraps and ran through the table saw, cut through the middle at a 45 degree angle. a piece was glued and nailed under my nightstand, the other was screwed in wall studs. to hang up, I simply lift the table and lower the stop. the angle downward force and more firmly on the tab. Voila! Two floating nightstands, less than $ 100 in total. Look at the picture of the French dock and see why I value the blue tape to mark things.
