description: While spending some time in the US, I wanted to show my brother the potential of IKEA furniture. A few days later, I surprised with an upgrade to modern functional level to its bed.I would provide adequate storage in a room with a minimum of space. My idea was to take advantage of Drona boxes in conjunction with EXPEDIT shelving.
Step 1: Using the EXPEDIT complete unit, I am able to take appropriate measures to EXPEDIT unit that had to be revised downwards.
Step 2: Cut the EXPEDIT to the correct size. For detailed information on this part of the process, please visit this instructable.
Step 2.5: The extra material from this step can be used for various items. In our case, we used the extra parts required many shelves throughout the space.
Step 3: With both units EXPEDIT finished, I am able to take steps to MDF. Because of my situation, a piece of MDF was not enough to completely support bed At this point, you can also measure the correct height of your 4 × 4 supports wooden pole. This confirms the will under the MDF for added support.
Step 4: This step is optional. Depending on the type of bedding used, part of the MDF support layer may be visible. As I pinched for time, my father recommended the quickest solution solution: Duct Tape! As many know, Duct Tape comes in a variety of colors. My home improvement store happened to have a black roll. We covered the edges of the MDF to blend with that part of the unit EXPEDIT. If you have more time, I would have gone with a painted MDF.
Step 5: Using FIXA floor protectors, I covered key points on EXPEDIT units and 4x4 posts to prevent the floor from being damaged. It also prevented the MDF damage the surface of EXPEDIT.
Step 6: With all the finished pieces, it's time for final assembly. The EXPEDIT must be set up first. Then we set the 4 × 4 support positions in their location. From there, you can bring in leaves of MDF. With the MDF in place, you can then proceed to fix the MDF to the 4 × 4 posts.
Step 7: For additional support, the media can be used to attach the MDF to EXPEDIT 5 × 1 ONLY. ** DO NOT attach anything to EXPEDIT 2 × 1 unit ** Unit 2 × 1 is a floating piece freely. It can be removed to allow for more storage in the actual bed frame for the user (several plastic bins fit well in this space).
Step 8: Finally, place the mattress on the MDF.
Unfortunately, our local IKEA were sold on the black boxes Drona. The illustrated trays can bought "The Red Bulls-eye"

the version of Maximilian for a Queen bed
When I arrived in my new apartment, I had a smaller room than before. I needed a place where I could store all my records and I had stored under my bed When I measured the Expedits I found that they are perfect for drives and I decided to use them to build my bed
What you see in the pictures is the finished bed (do not look at these cables, I was not even time to let them go). My first idea was to have an open angle than would be covered with acrylic Milked for me to put a lamp behind her to have a beautiful diffused light in my room. But since Expedits take a lot of robustness of these end parts, I decided to abandon that idea for now, especially having in mind that a room is not always just for sleeping ...
I used the "library EXPEDIT downsizing" instructable to cut ( 140x0 is the size of the queen in the US, I think). I that the metal brackets used to attach to the wall and to connect the two Expedits each other. After I put the wooden bars on the wall and one in the middle to hold later the slatted base and mattress, and basically that's it. So now I have room for all my records and enough storage for things that I use on a regular basis. The largest size you could get two Expedits attached as it would be 180x0, but I do not have the space for it.
