Malm Captains * * Hack Full Size Bed
Materials: 2 x MALM 3-Drawer Dresser, Sheet plywood, 2 × 4 Legs, Vis / L Support / Hardware, electric drill, hammer
description: I find this Ikea Hack when I arrived in my tiny Brooklyn apartment (about 8 'x 9') and thought it was a good idea, but my bed not double in size! I basically expanded the structure of Peter M. install a full-size mattress.
1. Build Malm shelves and place them in the center of the room in front of where the bed would.
2. Measure the size of your mattress to the size of the plywood you need. Remember that the plywood is available in 4 × 8 sheets to measure accordingly! I needed three parts to build the mine.
Fix the first piece of plywood for MALM drawers and use 2 × 4 (approx. 30 3/4 "long, but measure drawers Malm after construction dual control) to support the opposite side plywood. You're going to need a good amount of support to test the weaknesses and set additional 2 × 4 is necessary. I used L Brackets and also got the leg supports to the baseboard with 3 screws "(against the wall) for additional support.
3. amendments to the next step depending on the size you want your office to be. Measure your room and split the plywood (or not if your room is that small) so that both the next two parts based on the MALM drawers. (See photos) use 2 × 4 support other end and use L Brackets necessary.
4. I drilled holes in the plywood so that the mattress could breathe.
And you're done! I painted the blue sky and mine left some plywood showing on the desk area! I store suitcases and a set of rolling drawers underneath my bed
If you are not comfortable with the construction on this scale its best to help lift and secure the cons-plated. I manage by myself, but for a girl I am big enough and strong.
Have fun and good luck!
