Castle playhouse & loft bed

Castle Playhouse and loft bed

Materials SNIGLAR bed STOLMEN pole and ladder climbing

I always dreamed of having a castle bed as a kid and now since I'm a little old to 4 years like castles I decided to do

DIY Ikea hack castle bed

that we used Ikea was !; a SNIGLAR bed STOLMEN pole and ladder climbing. We also used four wooden posts, MDF panels of 16mm and a saw, a lot of screws and a drill to support the structure ... and other things such as paint, sand paper, etc. We have added small features like RIBBA tray for books and LED lighting.

bad drawing

all started with a (terrible) drawing our bed dream castle (in collaboration with our 4 year old daughter) and it ended up being made mostly with things that we had around the house. The bed and the pole was something that we already had. I had just bought blue climbing ladder week prior to a second hand store not even knowing why.

I'm lucky to have a handy husband and a father who helped build it. Everything was done in a day. We started raising the bed with four wooden posts (height 0 cm) that were bolted to the bed, then bolted to the wall for additional support. We then measured again all to be able to saw the panels correctly. We had sawn boards in a milling machine, but they could easily be hand-sawed, but it would take some more .. and precise sawing skills :) We then went on all panels with sandpaper to smooth everything out (which was done by hand) .. as it should be safe for little hands. SNIGLAR bed raised

it was easy from there. The panels perfectly match and we screwed on the bed frame and wooden poles. We also added the devices that attach the panels to the walls for additional support. Then we painted with white paint we had at home and to implement wide climbing. The idea sliding pole comes to me after we raised the bed We had a pole surplus from a shelving unit Stolmen we installed in another room and I thought it could be a great sliding pole, and secure as it can be screwed to the ceiling :)

Now we're just adding little things, like a shelf RIBBA, LED lighting and we also added a rope to the ceiling .. and then later we could add some climbing on rocks the side. My daughter loves her castle .. she sings course "Let it Go" tirelessly and called it Castle Arendell! then at night, we can easily use a chair to go up there with her and read bedtime stories ..

I thought it would bring out the smallest room, but it actually turned out to be the opposite. The room seems more spacious than before.

And here is the other side of the room. I attached a pole clothing Ikea STUVA a unit next to its storage TROFAST Malm of where it has the rest of her clothes. She needed a special place for all of her dresses, including its Frozen princess dress for recreation in the castle.
