Transform an HOL side table in a single bed with drawers

worthy and delicate design Hol deserves more than his fate as a mere "side table." And I really need an extra single bed and plenty of storage in a room that was less than 2 meters (7 feet) wide.

I started by building a simple bed frame, to a thickness of 10 cm by 10 cm pine wood. the structure measured 2 meters long a little less than 1 meter wide. I put the platform, also made from pine boards, a little over 50 cm from the ground. I then used the four sides of Hol (ideally sized at 50 -by-50 cm) as front covers four deep drawers constructed of particle board, each set on wheels.

I placed the top side / cubic cover Hol at the end of the bed, on the side that is mostly hidden from view. to secure the entire structure I used screws, small L brackets and braces OBSERVATÖR Ikea. To give some consistency to bed, I stained the entire structure - with a couple more layers to the pine wood on the best match slightly darker shade of wood Hol

Once dry, I added a single futon mattress. here! The bed is practical, elegant and sustainable: I have for over 10 years. The photos were taken recently.
