Giant Flower Canopy Lamp

Giant Flower Canopy Light

Materials: Knappa Pendant Lamp (2) of LÖVA bed canopies, metal pipe 1/2 inch, 24 x 36 acrylic sheet, kraft paper, spray adhesive, clips to attach pipe wall socket kit AC, spray paint, pipe cutter

description: This is a lamp that I made for my daughter's room . Loved the four poster beds Lova, but there was something a bit sticky about just putting them on the wall by themselves. I watched the Knappa One day, and it clicked! When used with awnings, he created the "flower" to the leaves, and really went with the theme that I was in the room. By adding a dimmer, its a great reading light, then becomes a night at bedtime.

First of all I bought a galvanized pipe 1/2 I found at Home Depot in the plumbing section. It was really cheap and as easy to bend into the shape I wanted. (Just be careful when bending, you do not fold in half) after obtaining my round, I cut the pipe to length, I need the help of a standard tube cutter. Then just spray paint any color you like ... I used a spray Rustoleum gold metallic paint.

Then you need to cut the cap off the end of your Knappa pendant light kit. Then, you run the wire through the metal pipe. Pull the thread all the way until the luminaire is at the end and rinse. I then used some hot glue and silicone to secure it to the pipe. I also wrapped in the bottom of the tape to hold the lug attachment against the pipe and remove slack. Then simply attach a new device plug on the end. (I bought at Home Depot in electricity, and it was easy to do, just splicing son), even I added a toggle switch and dimmer so that children could easily turn on and off.

Then I built a Plexiglas tube to cover all the "guts" and to instal the cleaner look. Also, I love the sparkle and shine of it. Take the acrylic sheet of plexiglass and using glue spray and kraft paper, it sticks to the underside of the acrylic. IMPORTANT: Make sure you get the thinnest possible and plexi test you will be able to bend without cracking. I chose to do just one sheet 24 × 36 because I did not need the tube to extend all the way to the ground, but if you do, you might need 2 sheets.

Now to install ...
Start with pre drill holes in your acrylic sheet so that the screws will not crack it. He tied one end of the plexi to the wall using the screws and washers, you will join your Lova awnings to the height you want, just above acrylic preferably to a wall stud, or use anchors drywall. Then run the metal pipe through the same media that your LÖVA and then use pipe clips to secure it further. Then, the next part is probably the hardest / most difficult ... You must be able to bend acrylic all the way (without cracking), and screw to the wall of the tube. And that's about it. Obviously you want to test the lamp and the front connections to mount, but using some cheap materials, you transform these products and make them look Ikea seamlessly as they were meant to be together.
