beauty bedside
need a sexy bedside table? jason shows us how.
"my girlfriend recently moved into a new apartment and thought of a cheap bedside table. It was a circular piece of glass she got from somewhere and thought maybe it could be placed on something after finding a suitable host - and failing - we saw the table in ikea noresund (a planter?): 19.99 price can not be beat, but it was a bit dull, appears! wise.
i had printed some vintage pinup for her wall, she suggested I put one on top of the table. a wonderful idea. i played around in photoshop with a work gil elvgren (the best pin-up artist ever) and got the design right, had it printed and podged mod baby there.
a note on the assembly: to ensure that the image was focused, I was drawing diagonal lines from corner to corner on printed image, then a hole in the center of the table to make sure everything was perfect.
i also stuck to the table, then let that dry before sealing with mod podge - moisture glue can separate the printed layer from the paper on certain types of prints. the glass was a nice finishing touch, but it is far from required. the table is a beautiful conversation piece that came to about $ 30. I know it's a simple mod podge of work, but you never know what might catch someone's fancy, and it's good to know that noresund is just begging to be decorated with the image sexy of your choice. "
