We have a small room terrace house in 1880. We have been fed interfering with each other in the morning and we were both drawers and hanging on each side of the room. A wardrobe with drawers at the bottom seemed like a good solution, but we could not find anything that gave it the right size and price. Therefore, we thought would have a go at creating what we wanted with our first Ikea hack.

The TARVA 3 drawer was the correct width for the space we had, but we really wanted something more traditional looking (as Herefoss but smaller) so that the first step was to modify the drawers according

1. Tarva Chest of 3 drawers

1) using a circular saw with the parallel guide set at about 15mm we cut a bottom strip of the two upper drawers. It was important not to cut too much off the bottom of the drawer is partially supported by a grove on the back of the drawer front.

2) This leaves a square edge on the front of the drawer that is not a power sander was used to add a bevel by carefully sand along the edge sander keeping 45 °

2. New bevel to bottom of drawer

3) New notched sleepers were cut to fit between the drawers and project slightly beyond each side to allow clearance for the drawers to open and close.

3. Notched cross piece

4) They were mounted by screwing through the side of the unit in the crosspiece. The screw holes are milled to allow the screw to be flush.

4. Cross piece fixed with countersunc screw

5) A piece of cord personal profile is attached to the projection of the cross with more countersunk screws to frame the sides of the unit.

5. Staff bead fixed into ends of cross pieces

6) feet were cut (with a stopper with integrated miter saw to make sure they are all square and length) to bringing the bottom of the top drawer unit plinth level.

6. Legs cut down to match height of skirting

7) the drawers are now looking a bit more traditional.

7. Drawer modification complete

8) With the drawer unit in position, we built a framework for the suspension part of the cabinet with square wooden. - Note the second set of vertical markets before taking the doors and horizontal near the bottom to take the flap and allow the cross-cutting member for revival

8. Hanging section frame added

9) the framework was secured against the wall in several places with metal angles.

10) A hanging rail was added, along with several hooks on the back above the wood for long dresses that can be hung so that the fall behind the drawers.

9. Rail and Hooks

11) doors STUVA BETSAD (taken from the bin section last case we were at Ikea) were equipped with adjustable cabinet hinges.

10. Doors added

12) the wardrobe is ready for the groove and tongue sheath. A thin layer of cloth at the bottom gives support to the sheath when the drawers do not respond to the wall.

13) Cutting for revival and access door to allow the top of the drawer unit to work as a bedside table too.

11. Side Cladding

14) Double coating layer was added to the front with staff bead in the corners to make a similar depth to the gates. Cornice up and reused plinth at the bottom to hide gaps and attach the play within the play.

12. Front cladding, skirting and cornice

15) Apiece tape is a flexible handle to the side flap which can be hung on the button above to keep it open. An offcut of drawer fronts is used to extend the line of the upper part of the drawer.

15) A few coats of paint and more RANARP lights finish cabinets and now we can get ready in peace!
