Foldable mattress
Materials: 3 baby mattress "Vyssa Slummer" (0x60cm), 1 oversized blanket cover (155x220cm), yarn, sewing machine
description: from First my inspiration.
My two children enjoy sleeping together on a wide mattress on the weekend nights. We used to have a double-sized folding mattress 180x0. It took a lot of room in the children's room was slowly tearing at the seams, and looked old and worn out. An eye-sore in the children's room.
New foldable mattresses are ugly or expensive, or both. Then I saw the inspiration mentioned above, but always thought "Well, with pillows inside will not be long until it will feel like lying on the floor."
And I was at IKEA. And they had mattresses "Vyssa Slummer" on sale, only 9 euros a mattress. I had a nice blanketcover at home, otherwise I would surely bought a nice IKEA on the same trip
And here:
- I cut open a long side .. I ' I used a blanket coverage with a zipper, so I cut open the side at the end of the zipper
-. I measured "height + width of the mattress + 1cm" three times and marked on the front cover (long side of the mattress aligned with the short side of the cover)
-. I measured on the mattress length and nestled excess of the inner cover (should be understandable with the image offering a peek inside)
- .. I sewed along the lines of the three spaces for mattresses
- I pushed and shoved in the mattress and folded back the surplus in these mattresses
-. I pushed the seams towards the upper edge of the first two mattresses and towards the lower edge of the middle mattress .? and last Why Because this way you can bend them easily
. - as the mattresses are 60cm wide and cover is 220cm long about 20cm were left after sewing all as you can. see from the second picture, he made a nice mattress folded flap giving the kind of "sofa" -look.
I was surprised to clean professional appearance at all. And my kids loved it and sleep on it this minute.
The entire project took a trip to IKEA, about 30 minutes of thinking and planning about 1 hour marking, sewing and tailoring.
And I seamstress very, very inexperienced. So if you're just a little more in this subject while it will not take you more than half an hour.
