Malm on the rise…

Malm upward ...

Materials: pine Malm bed frame, pine 4 "x 2", 2 "x 2" lag bolts

description: When I lived in my old place, I had a lot of place to hide unwanted therefore did not need underbed storage and I loved the Malm bed frame because he was weak.

But when I moved I found myself short on storage space and contemplating buying another bed so that I can store things underneath.

Instead, I paid £ 25 for materials and set to work to lift the Malm from the ground 7. "

I started building the new framework by cutting the 2 × 2 to the length and width of the bed Then I mortise and tenon along the center piece of two short pieces, to create a large bed that I would be sitting on. I did because I thought it would have a degree of stiffness. So far I have not seen need!

Then I cut 4 pieces of 4 × 2, 5 "long, and coach bolted them to the corners of the frame I. I BUILT heads bolts so that the bed could be flush with the frame I. I also used anchors to stop pivoting legs, so you had both ankles and one coach bolt into the frame at the legs. Very strong!

With the bed until finished on the head, I aligned the I frame the bed and tied with several coach bolts. Both the headboard, two on the step. Again, I BUILT these bolts, but this time for cleanliness.

And then I landed him on his new four feet! I was going to dye to match the bed but I rather like the two-tone look! And the beauty is, if I want to bring it back to earth, I can Unlock the I frame and there is no scarring!
