Custom Computer Desk + Pax + Shoe Storage
Materials: Pax and Komplement series, Cutter, Jigsaw
description: This hack pursued three objectives
* It should allow a desktop
* It must give room to more than 100 pairs of shoes
* It should look like "complete"
objective 1: office
for objective 1, I used 2 doors PAX 70cm wall unit, leaving 2 open shelves to set the table for computer. All wiring goes behind the group of cables that you see are only temporary USB connector to download these photos
Objective 2: The shoe-lution
oRIGIN: objective 2, we were from 1.5m cabinet, filled with 10 SKUBB modules to accommodate 100 pairs.
PROBLEM: You can not see the shoes, so you have to "remember" a show, then look.
SOLUTION: The shoe-lution was to use a corner module (1m door, but 1.5m of space and use its depth to place the left behind the right shoe on each pair, so that you can see each model, try it, and if appropriate, just grab one behind
TRICK 1: do not go very high (it would be difficult achieving the right pair in. area), or use a BOLMEN stool (top right) as always, the establishment of the plate and hinges drive you NUTS (4 attempts
TRICK 2: you can also cover each shelf with tiny carpets to prevent dirt, but we liked the clean look of the white wooden shoes
Objective 3 :. PAX
PROBLEM: After assembly, we spent 14cm between the left corner module and the rest of the wardrobe
sOLUTION :. As expected, the solution was to reduce a 50cmx195 Module PAX to 14cm width just cut the top / horizontal shelves down, though perfectionists would go to the bottom plinth and back panel too (5 cuts at total).
TRICK 1: Notice that I got only the right side of the PAX, leaving up / down "flying" because it's just 14cm and it is really tight, giving me 2 extra centimeters space (1.9cm 12.1cm panel + shelf = 14 cm a side PAX)
TRICK 2: I made these cuts myself with a power saw. To avoid an ugly cut, you can go to:
1. Interspersing the piece between two cuts before (these two parts are called in Spain "martyrs" because they suffer any damage you leaving a clean cut in the middle), thus avoiding melamine (white wood lining) to be cracked.
2. Or just cut melamine to size with a knife before using the saw. Therefore, when the saw goes, melamine cracks exactly where you cut the
TRICK 3: For 14cm door, we went (successfully with Besta push lock because it was only 14cm wide, and 0 degree hinges next corner module made it almost necessary to avoid crashing the door with LANSA managers. We climbed on top (195cm door), which is perfectly accessible)
TRICK 4: the door was really the visible, so I went to a local smith wood cuts. They usually make the cuts on the fly for free (it took about 0 seconds), and the machine has finished edges with melamine (although you can do it yourself as well) for a total of € 5. Believe me, it is really worth it for the finish, and you should not aspire full house after using your electric saw
hope you like!
