Sent the room with a killer

headboard

feels the room with a killer headboard

Materials: 4 x VIKA AMON bright RED (150 x 75 cm), 2 x wall shelf (similar to LOST, but from HW local supply since I wanted in high gloss), strips of local HW provides bright LED strips (not from IKEA sold on the day of my visit), 4 x wall sockets, light switches 2 x, various screws and hinges

description: My wife and I wanted to spice up our pretty boring room in our newly built house and after long considerations chose to create a headboard killer IKEA pieces.

This is how we did it:

1) Lay the 4 VIKA AMON table top on the floor next of each other. Be careful not to scratch the high-gloss surface. We used the packaging material as the carrier.

2) Attach each VIKA AMON table for the next using flat hinges. Use the wall as support, so that the end of the table tops are perfectly aligned (will be the top of the headboard)

3) Create a framework battens and mount the VIKA AMON table tops using bracketing hinges. We allowed 25 cm of free space around, so that the slats would not be visible after being attached to the wall.

4) Create a wall mount mechanism with two short pieces of lath each side. The final headboard will be placed on the ground, so it is to keep it flat against the wall at the top.

5) months parts either on the wall accordingly. Use a measure to ensure a right positioning.

6) drill holes in the VIKA Amons to allow wall sockets to be powered back (WARNING! If you are a qualified electrician, do not do on your own). We created 4 holes, since we have elevation beds that needs power too and we wanted the son not to be too visible. Be careful when drilling, so you do not scratch the high-gloss surface. We used the tape to the support, which could be easily removed afterwards.

7) Connect all wall outlets and switches.
8) Attached LED strips directly on the batten frame at the rear. The version we are glued directly.

9) Fix the shelves on each side, as described in the instructions (no piracy here).

10) Assemble the head on the wall and enjoy ;-)
