Teen boy lounge bed

bed Teen boy living

Materials: headboard Malm, a Ribba shelf Komisk cushion cover

description: This is "the living room of bed" of my teenage son hacked a Malm bed head and Ribba shelves. The goal was a double bed in a minimum of space without hiding to stuff dirty clothes and garbage. (Did I mention it's for my teenage son ??) This design allowed us to put the bed right in the corner and maximize floor space.

The Malm headboard comes in 2 pieces. We used the two parts separately to make an "L" shaped corner head. It is rigged from the wall with 2 x 4 is on the top and bottom of each piece.

1) Mark on the wall where the headboard will be mounted. Plan to mount so the front corners will touch in the corner, leaving space behind them.

2) Measure and cut four lengths of 2 × 4 the width of the headboard least 1 inch (ours is just going to trim window on the shortest piece.)

3 ) Mount Jan. 2 × 4 on the wall just above the baseboards.

4) mount another 2 × 4 to the height of the mounting mechanism larger head section.

5) Mount 3rd and 4th lengths shorter headboard.

6) Mount larger headboard

7) Place 2 × 4 on the floor under the shorter headboard

8) Attach the legs to both ends of the shorter headboard that measure the distance between the 2 × 4 on the floor at the base of the shorter headboard.

9) mounting the smallest headboard was difficult for us to find something that could allow it to be flush with the 2 x 4 without cutting completely in the headboard (I did not know not what we would find if we cut it!) we used picture hangers that were as flush as we could find. The weight is supported by the legs, and the right image carriers hold it in place. It gains more stability when Ribba tablet is attached.

10) shelves Ribba line up along the top edge of the headboard and make necessary cuts to get the appropriate length. Cut at a 45 degree angle in the corner to make a miter connection.

11) Drill a hole for the cord to a surge protector in shelves or in both. I screwed shelves, drilled the hole, unscrewed, donned the cord and rescrewed. I'm sure there is an easier method. Attach a surge protector with screws or with sticky Velcro sides .

12) The largest piece of the headboard rests on the ground (shim out) and the shortest piece is mounted level up. This is not just at the level of the mattress, but that makes the exchange leaves easier. Because it runs in front of a window, we used the legs for extra support. Upstairs is a 2 x 4 as the bed advances to, preventing the bed from locking into the wall -. Making it easier to make the bed sheets and change

We have also attached under cabinet lighting along the front edge. A black Sharpie is a nice touch for which we drilled the corner hole.

I bought a cloth to put on the box springs. My son's name starts with "W" so that the zigzag shelf Lack went perfectly. IKEA Komisk triple cushion cover goes around the corner of the headboard and form the basis of pillows batteries. In my photos, it's black, it does not show very well. My son loves finally have a bed big enough to expand its "frame 6'4 and a lounge for homework, video games, reading, etc.
