Turn your blah Fjellse into a FAB upholstered bed

Turn your blah Fjellse in a bed lined FAB

Materials: Fjellse bedframe (double)

description: now that I, AOM life as a grown up after college, it, AOS time for my sleeping position to look the part too. Thus, although the bedframe Fjellse has great bones (of pine wood, not particle!) And the price at $ 50 can not be beat, it, AOS just a little too smooth and college cheapie-looking my taste. Although I just could tap some beautiful paintings and call it a day, my interior decorator really really wanted a luxury bed upholstered since I laid eyes on them.

Here, AOS how too:

1) Prepare your wood to be painted and primed by wiping clean and fill the grooves in the knots of wood with wood filler. Sand the wood filler when dry.

2) Apply 2 coats of primer and two coats of latex paint allowing sufficient time to dry between coats. I used Martha Stewart Living in Sharkey Grey.

3) Build the wood frame add to increase the height of the head. Use 2-inch wood screws to attach the three pieces of wood like so. You only need a screw on each side. For more strength, add some wood glue between the joints:

4) Now attach the plywood to the frame you just built using January 1 / 4 inch screw wood. Attach the bedframe screwing plywood to the frame using Fjellse over 1 1/4 inch screws in wood. Fix the mending plates to reinforce the relationship between the on and add part Fjellse. It should look like this:

5) Then attach your foam stapled in the plywood on the bottom edge of the headboard, then stretch the foam on the edge top and staple on the back of the head. Do the same with the quilt batting. Make sure you take all taughtly and evenly before stapling to you, Äôll get nice smooth edges. When you, Aore fact, it, Äôll look like this:

6) Finally, align and staple your fabric over the head by pulling taughtly. Make sure your fabric is right if you, Aore using a print and take your time on this part to make sure everything is smooth and professional.

Now that you, and your Aore Fjellse is looking fantastic! :) If you want to see more photos or are confused about all the steps, see my blog where I talk further.
