regarding the zip ties ... (not recommended !!)
Note: neither the author, his family or person associated with it in any way, recommends or approves using zip ties in a bed structure (Even I push for a more solid thing.) It is highly recommended that if you decide to build or assemble a bed similar to the one shown, it is considered a more robust solution to our use of fasteners. Similarly, the author and associates, etc. assume no responsibility for any damage suffered as a result of the construction of a similar structure. Attempt at your own risk!
After washing my hands of this ...
Here's how we did it.
1. Cut small timber to use as extensions for shelving
2. Paste small pieces of wood down Ivar supports.
3. Assemble the shelves more Ivar Malm Dresser
4. If your room is as small as ours, make sure to space the coffers evenly so
so that the drawers are accessible.
5. Connect the 2 large sets of Ivar shelves on either side of where the bed is.
6. Add the sleepers on the shelves (without Malm chests, in our case).
7. The four sets of tablets should be focused such that there is enough storage behind Malms.
8. Assemble the smaller board games.
9. Place the small shelves at the ends so that the backs of small shelves are against the sides of the greats.
10. Use the above ties to hold the smaller units to larger Ivar. For questions regarding the use of ties to this structure, please refer to the above warning.
11. Cut the board of header / footer to the proper length
12. Measure the wood for the holes (sides and center) to match with the existing side frames ( or use new wood probably easier).
13. Measure, measure, measure! Then mark and then measure again. Only after you are 100% sure if you even consider drilling !!! Even then, you should probably check yet again.
14. Once you have all the drilled holes, you can assemble the bed frame as if it were the original bed. Then Ivar set units using brackets. We used 6.
16. Lift the mattress on the frame. Correctly position the slats in the support frame. Moving the mattress in position.
17. Create a stair system / stage that fits your needs both in space and person. We have not yet found our solution yet, we are currently using a regular scale (see warning).
18. You should probably put some sort of side rails up from the bed is so high. We have assembled the basic structure that works for us at the moment.
