How to raise the Malm bed (FINALLY)
After reading several ideas on how to succeed (and safely) to lift the Malm bed; I came up with a viable and easy solution -. And I wanted to share with everyone
I read a post about using 4 leg supports beams for the bed, but it will not work in the long term that the weight of Malm beds is distributed through the head and foot. I also read some posts about using a LACK shelving as support, which I think is dangerous and not very strong
So here is what I did. I went to the local hardware store and bought a standard 8 'long 4 × 4. I asked them to cut it into 2 equal pieces measuring the exact width of the headboard and footboard (to my bed, which is a full size, each piece measured 59.5 "). I took the pieces (and 2 additional, shorter pieces remains) house and quickly sanded (nothing serious or time, it was mainly to get off splinters), primed and painted white. My bed is brown shade, which is almost impossible to match with paint, so I went to the contrast with the white. once the paint is dry, I have placed under the head and foot of the Malm bed.
the weight of the bed itself is enough to keep safe on the 4 × 4, but for extra support, J 'I used 3 "mending plates at each end.
And voila! The bed is now 8.5 "from the ground, which is perfect for standard storage containers
WHAT YOU WILL NEED :.
- 8 'long 4 × 4, cut the width of the head and foot of (cost: $ 11)
- Primer - a layer should case (I used Kilz primary spray / cost: $ 5.75)
- satin paint finish, color choices (should only need a size quarter may paint / cost: $ 9.50)
- garnish paint roller - 3 "or 4" (you can get a kit for less than $ 5.00 which includes a tea, like this one)
- Mending plates - 3 " (I bought these cost: $ 2.75)
hope this is clear and helps everyone who asked. It is a much cheaper way to raise the Malm bed than having to buy a whole new bed! And I did it all by myself, it is super easy
